The point is the place where the Qi of the liver is infused into the back.

Name: Ganshu
English Name/Meaning: Liver Transporter

Location:

1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 9th thoracic vertebra.

Functions of Ganshu:

  • Benefits liver and Gall bladder.
  • Cools damp heat.
  • Moves stagnation Qi.
  • Benefits the eyes.

Indication:

  • Main point for hepatic diseases, such as jaundice, hypochondriac pain; 2. Red eyes, blurred vision, night blindness;
  • Hematemesis, epistaxis.
  • Dizziness, depression and psychosis, mania, epilepsy.

Method:

Puncture obliquely 0.5-1 cun.

Remark:

Back-Shu Point of the Liver.

Precautions:

Deep perpendicular or needling in a wrong direction carries a substantial risk of causing a pneumothorax.
