Nomenclature:

Heng gu is the ancient name of the pubis.
This point is on the superior border of the pubis.
Point: KI11
Chinese Name: 橫骨
English Name/Meaning: Pubic Bone
Pinyin: héng gǔ
Han Geul 한글: hoeng gol 횡골
Romaji: ō kotsu
Vietnamese: Hoành cốt

Location:

5 cun below the umbilicus. on the superior border of symphysis pubis, 0.5 cun lateral to Qugu (REN2).

Functions:

Regulates conception and governor vessel.

Indications of Henggu:

Fullness and pain in the lower abdomen, dysuria, enuresis, nocturnal emission, impotence, pain of genitalia.

Method:

Perpendicular insertion 0.5 to 1 cun.

Remarks:

Meeting point of Kidney and Chong Vessel.

Precautions:

  • Avoid deep needling, to prevent urinary bladder injury when full.
  • Avoid in pregnancy.
