The meridian runs downwards from the neck, where it branches out into two lines. After meeting at weizhong (BL40), it travels downwards and gradually descends along the muscle. The higher point is considered as Yang.

Functions of Heyang:

  • Strengthens the lumbar spine and tonifies kidney.
  • Relaxes the sinew and invigorates the channel.

Indications:

Low back pain, cramps in the legs, pain and paralysis of the lower extremities.

Method:

Perpendicular insertion 1 to 1.5 cun.
