Shangliao BL31: Nomenclature, Location, Functions, Indications

Shangliao lies on the sacrum, at the midpoint between the posteriosuperior iliac spine and the posterior midline, just at the first posterior sacral foramen.

Location:

On the sacrum, at the midpoint between the posterior superior iliac spine and the posterior midline, just at the first posterior sacral foramen.

Functions of shangliao:

  • Regulates lower burner.
  • Strengthens the lower back and legs.
  • Strengthens blood and essence.

Indications:

  • Impotence, infertility, sterility, difficulty in urination, leucorrhoea, uterine prolapse.
  • Pain in the lumbar and sacral region, sciatica.

Method:

Puncture perpendicularly 1-1.5 cun.

Remarks:

  • Action on bladder.
  • One of the point of Baliao.

Precautions:

No needling during pregnancy.
