Futonggu is in the abdomen, where water and food pass.

English Name/Meaning: Abdomen Connecting Valley
Pinyin: fù tōng gǔ
Han Geul 한글: tong gok 통곡
Romaji: hara no
Vietnamese: tsū koku

Location:

5 cun above the umbilicus, 0.5 cun lateral to Shangwan (Ren 13).

Functions of futonggu:

  • Strengthens the middle jiao, regulates stomach and intestine.
  • Clears blockage in intestine, uterine area.

Indications:

  • Vomiting, abdominal pain, Constipation.
  • Postpartum abdominal pain, infertility.

Method:

Perpendicular insertion 1 to 1.5 cun.

Remarks:

Meeting point of Kidney and chong vessel.

Precautions:

Deep needling may penetrate the peritoneal cavity.
